Es gibt drei afrikanische Arten, n\u00e4mlich den Gorilla (Gorilla Gorilla), den Schimpansen (Pan trogladytes) und den Bonobo oder Zwergschimpanse (Pan paniscus). Der vierte Vertreter der Menschenaffen, der Orang-Utan (Pongo pygmaeus), ist auf Sumatra und Borneo beheimatet. Die Gesichtsz\u00fcge der Menschenaffen sind individuell und ausdrucksstark wie beim Menschen. Menschenaffen gehen auf allen Vieren und k\u00f6nnen auch recht gut zweibeinig laufen. Sie sind auch in der Lage, vorsichtig zu klettern und dabei alle vier Gliedma\u00dfen zu benutzen, um ihren schweren K\u00f6rper zu sichern. Obwohl die drei afrikanischen Arten alle in den W\u00e4ldern leben, sind sie \u00f6kologisch und sozial unterschiedlich. Der Gorilla ist ein terrestrischer Pflanzenfresser. Der Schimpanse verbringt die H\u00e4lfte seiner Zeit in den B\u00e4umen und frisst Fr\u00fcchte. Der Bonobo verbringt die meiste Zeit in B\u00e4umen (arboreal). Weibliche Gorillas und Schimpansen kommen bereits mit 8 Jahren in die Pubert\u00e4t, sie haben mehrere Jahre lang monatliche Menstruationszyklen, bevor sie schwanger werden. Sie pflanzen sich in Abst\u00e4nden von 3 bis 5 Jahren fort. M\u00e4nnchen werden mit Anfang zwanzig fortpflanzungsf\u00e4hig. Der Affennachwuchs wird mit einem d\u00fcnnen Fell geboren und kann sich innerhalb weniger Tage an der Mutter festhalten. Mit etwa sechs Monaten k\u00f6nnen sie laufen und klettern. Bis zum Alter von etwa 5 Jahren sind sie in Bezug auf F\u00fchrung und Schutz auf ihre Mutter angewiesen. Die Gene von Menschenaffen sind 98% bis 99% die gleichen wie die des Menschen. Unterarten sind:;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Westlicher Flachlandgorilla. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dies ist die kleinste und am weitesten verbreitete Art in den Tiefland-Regenw\u00e4ldern von Kamerun, Zentralafrikanischer Republik, \u00c4quatorialguinea, Gabun und Kongo. M\u00e4nnchen wiegen 140 kg und Weibchen 75 kg. Alle haben kleine Kiefer und Z\u00e4hne mit breitem Gesicht. Reife M\u00e4nnchen haben einen gro\u00dfen, fast wei\u00dfen Sattel, der Kruppe und Schenkel bedeckt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00d6stlicher Flachlandgorilla. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dies sind die gr\u00f6\u00dften, wobei M\u00e4nnchen etwa 165 kg wiegen. Sie sind haupts\u00e4chlich in isolierten Regenwaldgebieten im Zaire und den angrenzenden Grenzregionen von Ruanda und Uganda zu finden. Die Gesichter sind schmal und der K\u00f6rper ist mit dichtem schwarzem Fell bedeckt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gebirgsgorilla. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diese sind stark gef\u00e4hrdet, mit nur wenigen Exemplaren in freier Wildbahn. Sie leben im Virunga-Vulkanmassiv an der Grenze von Ruanda, der Demokratischen Republik Kongo und Uganda. Sie haben langes Fell, m\u00e4chtige Kiefer und ein sehr breites Gesicht. M\u00e4nnchen wiegen etwa 160 kg, w\u00e4hrend Weibchen etwa 85 kg wiegen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weibliche Gorillas leben in Harems, die von einem Silberr\u00fccken-M\u00e4nnchen bewacht und streng kontrolliert werden. In der Gruppe findet sich auch ein junger erwachsener Sohn im Alter von etwa 5 bis 8 Jahren.\n\nDas Leben in einem Gorilla-Harem ist meist friedlich und entspannt. Berggorillas verbringen ein Drittel des Tages mit Fressen. Den Rest des Tages verbringen sie mit Ruhen und Sonnenbaden. Sie bauen nachts Nester in B\u00e4umen oder am Boden, um zu schlafen.\n\nDer Silberr\u00fccken-Anf\u00fchrer bestimmt, wohin seine Gruppe geht oder was sie tut und wann. Jede der Gef\u00e4hrtinnen ist nur an ihn und ihre Nachkommen gebunden, nicht aneinander. Die Weibchen sind nicht miteinander verwandt und werden als Jugendliche aus ihren Elterngruppen \u00fcbernommen.\n\nDie m\u00e4nnliche Konkurrenz um Weibchen ist intensiv, was oft zu heftigen K\u00e4mpfen zwischen V\u00e4tern und S\u00f6hnen oder Gef\u00e4hrten f\u00fchren kann. Das Fell ist in der Regel schwarz, kann aber von braun bis rotbraun variieren. M\u00e4nnchen wiegen etwa 40 bis 55 kg, w\u00e4hrend Weibchen etwa 30 kg wiegen. Man findet sie in Regenw\u00e4ldern, aber auch in Feuchtsavannen und manchmal in Akaziensavannen. Sie sind in Guinea, Sierra Leone Ost, Uganda und n\u00f6rdlich des Kongo-Flusses beheimatet. Sie sind enger mit dem Menschen verwandt, wie DNA-Studien zeigen. Schimpansen sind Allesfresser, die sich unterschiedlich ern\u00e4hren. Sie sind in Gruppen von 20 bis \u00fcber 100 Tieren anzutreffen, wandern aber oft allein oder in kleinen Gruppen auf der Suche nach Essbarem. Sie bewegen sich auf dem Boden zwischen den Nahrungsb\u00e4umen und schlafen dort, wo die Nacht sie findet. Erwachsene Weibchen in einer Gruppe sind meist nicht verwandt. Die in der Gemeinschaft verbleibenden M\u00e4nnchen hingegen sind miteinander verwandt und arbeiten zusammen, um ihr Territorium und ihre Weibchen vor ihren Nachbarn zu verteidigen. Dies entspricht einer Stammeskriegsf\u00fchrung. Sie sind auch sehr eng mit dem Menschen verwandt. Das Gesicht ist komplett schwarz. Vorkommen in Tieflandregenw\u00e4ldern und Sumpfw\u00e4ldern in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo s\u00fcdlich des Kongo-Flusses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Ern\u00e4hrung der Bonobos besteht haupts\u00e4chlich aus Fr\u00fcchten. Wenn Fr\u00fcchte knapp sind, fressen sie Bodenpflanzen. Sie fressen auch eine Vielzahl von Wirbellosen, darunter Regenw\u00fcrmer und Tausendf\u00fc\u00dfler. Sie sind baumbewohnender und akrobatischer als Schimpansen und springen und tauchen oft von Baum zu Baum. Sie leben in Gruppen von 50 bis 120 Mitgliedern.
