This five days Mount Elgon National Park safari will be a one-of-a-kind tour in the Mt. Elgon forest. You will have enough time to explore the forest, see the elephant caves and also enjoy biking, hiking, and nature walks on the eighth highest mountain in Africa, Mount Elgon. Mt. Elgon is dotted with caves formed from ancient lava tubes namely Kitum, Making’eny, Chepnyalil ,Ngwarisha and many others some of which are outside the protected areas. Kitum Cave is regularly visited by herds of elephants, dubbed the troglodyte tuskers, as well as bushbuck, Red Duiker, Grey Duiker and buffalo, all in search of the salts that abound in the mineral-rich earth of the caves.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF MOUNT ELGON NATIONAL PARK SAFARI
Day 1: Nairobi to Mt. Elgon
Get a pick up from your hotel by your driver guide and briefed about your tour. Transfer from Nairobi heading towards Nakuru via Eldoret to Kitale with lunch enroute. Arrive at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day in Mount Elgon National Park
After you’ve had your morning meal, join us as we venture out to witness the park’s plethora of primates, birds and indigenous tree species. You’ll be sure to spot some rare wildlife here. Have lunch before taking a leisurely stroll along nature trails – keep an eye out for Genet cats which make occasional appearances. As you meander down the path take in all the beauty of Elgon teak and Elgon olive trees, plus plenty of monkeys and chirping birds.

Day 3: Nature Walk and Exploring the caves
After breakfast at the hotel, you will join the knowledgeable rangers who will guide you to Kiptum Caves. You may have heard of these ‘famous Elephant caves’, where Elephants and Buffaloes come together to get their daily dose of minerals. What a unique opportunity to enjoy your lunch with amazing views of the majestic herd while they feed! After lunch, take a leisurely stroll through nature before returning to the lodge/camp for dinner and restful night’s sleep.

Day 4: Full Day in Mt. Elgon National Park
We’ll spend the entire day uncovering Mount Elgon’s spectacular wildlife. Elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, duikers and an array of forest monkeys such as black-and-white colobus and blue monkey are all inhabitants here. It is also a bird-watcher’s paradise. You will spot our feathered friends including Jackson’s francolin, eastern bronze-naped pigeon, Hartlaub’s turaco, Tacazze sunbird plus the rare lammergeyer bird. Get ready for some fun wildlife watching.

Day 5: Mount Elgon to Nairobi
Check out of your hotel after breakfast where after saying goodbye to Mt Elgon then you will connect your vehicle for the transfer to Nairobi with lunch enroute.
